Expectations for Further Development in Japan and India: Reflections on the “Rising Sun Conclave”

Hello. My name is Kojiro Honda.

On March 13, “Rising Sun Conclave” was held in New Delhi, organized by Connect India Japan, an Indian company. The event was a great success and I could feel the beginning of a new partnership between Japan and India.

This event would not have been a success without my business partner, Ms. Tiwari. First of all, let me briefly introduce Ms. Tiwari.

Building Bridges between Japan and India: Ms. Nupur Tiwari

Nupur Tiwari says, “You only live once. I want to help as many people as possible.” Based on this belief, he engages in a variety of activities.

Since she has lived in Japan for nearly 20 years, she has been involved in many jobs that serve as a bridge between India and Japan, and she is particularly experienced as an emcee. Not only as a TV MC, but also for international events and conferences such as the Tokyo Olympics and the G7 Summit – a very wide range indeed.

Connect India Japan was established at the initiative of Ms. Tiwari. Today, through the creation of employment opportunities and business support such as internships, the organization helps to deepen understanding of each other’s countries and build relationships that transcend national borders.

It is no exaggeration to say that Ms. Tiwari is an important person who connects India and Japan. Not only does she possess a high level of expertise, but she also has the ability to attract people around her, and many people will be the first to think of her when they think of her as an event chairperson.

What is the Rising Sun Conclave?

It is held annually as a beacon of enduring partnership and shared dreams between Japan and India.

The year 2022 marks the 70th anniversary of Japan-India relations, and this year’s conclave aims not only to celebrate this, but also to promote economic growth, strengthen diplomatic ties, and deepen cultural ties between the two countries. Indian and Japanese business leaders, entrepreneurs, strategic affairs experts, diplomats, cultural figures, and senior media representatives shared their views on trade and cultural cooperation between India and Japan.

The main topics of this conclave included

  • Potential for joint ventures in global trade
  • Growth of the Indian market and Japan’s interest
  • Cooperation between the two countries, including the Japan-India Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA)

Prominent Japanese companies are also supporting this conclave. We share new ideas and best practices and work together for the growth and prosperity of both countries.

There was also an award ceremony to honor those who have been “key players” in strengthening the relationship between Japan and India, and a performance of the Indian classical dance “Bharatanatyam”.

I am also renewing my desire to work together for the benefit of each other’s countries and people, and to make further progress.

There is no doubt that Japan and India will further deepen their cooperation in the future. The Flagship High Speed Rail Project, which represents Japan’s technological and infrastructural cooperation, is also underway.

P.S. I was interviewed.

I was recently interviewed by Tiwari. We talked for about 40 minutes about how I started my business and my business in India. Thanks to Mr. Tiwari’s “ability to get the other person to talk,” the time passed very quickly.

I would like to recommend this interview to anyone who is interested in doing business in India, as well as to anyone who is curious about what kind of person Ms. Tiwari is.
